I suppose most of you or at least a lot of you are wondering who exactly your teacher is beyond qualifications and a resume.
我想大多数人，或者至少很多人，都在想你的老师除了资格和简历之外到底是谁。
I’ll try to divulge what I can, in a way as to make the most sense without going too much into my life story.
我会尽量透露我能分享的内容，以便在不深入我的人生故事的情况下，使其更有意义。
Like most people my age I grew up at the dawn of a new digital world; from when I was 1 year old to 18, the internet was just another analog device confined in an electronic box and left on a desk. In those days it never flowed out and into our lives for every minute of every day.
和我同龄的大多数人一样，我在一个新的数字世界的曙光中长大；从我一岁到十八岁，互联网只是一种被限制在电子盒子里的模拟设备，放在桌子上。在那个年代，它并没有像现在这样每时每刻都融入我们的生活。
Unlike most people in the world (all 7 billion of us) and at about half of all Americans, I grew up rural, in a strict countryside environment. But forget fields of wheat or corn that stretch on endlessly. My Countryside was mountainous, covered with forests with a little town nestled in a valley. It was a picturesque environment where Pokémon could appear behind a tree, if Pokémon actually existed.
与世界上大多数人（我们所有70亿人）和大约一半的美国人不同，我在乡村的严格环境中长大。不过，别想象那些无尽延展的麦田或玉米地。我成长的乡村是山区，覆盖着森林，一个小镇坐落在山谷中。那是一个如画的环境，仿佛宝可梦会从树后冒出来，如果宝可梦真的存在的话。
My family was by all means “House-poor” so we didn’t have a lot to spend on entertainment. As it was the countryside, there wasn’t much in the way of civilization. When there wasn’t time to explore the woods surrounding my house, I ended up reading a lot of books. There was Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. But there were also a lot of classical novels from the 19th and early 20th centuries. I also took an extreme interest in Historical Textbooks; I was fascinated with the events that actually occurred.
我的家庭可以说是“有房贫困”，所以我们没有很多钱可以花在娱乐上。由于是乡村，文明设施并不多。当我没有时间去探索我家周围的树林时，我就会读很多书。有《哈利·波特》和《魔戒》，但也有许多19世纪和20世纪初的经典小说。我还对历史教材产生了极大的兴趣，对那些真实发生的事件感到着迷。
Just in case you’re wondering, among the many historical texts I read were the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. My Favorite character was Zhuge Liang/Kongming.
如果你在好奇的话，在我读的众多历史书籍中，《三国演义》也是其中之一。我最喜欢的人物是诸葛亮/孔明。
My childhood wasn’t all that pastoral; there was cable TV and friends at school. I also had a twin sister that I got along with very well, and when I was about 12 years old I got a Playstation 2 for the first time, and around that same time the family got a PC as well, though it was slow. The point being, is I wasn’t totally without.
我的童年并不完全是田园牧歌式的；我有有线电视和学校的朋友。我还有一个关系很好的双胞胎妹妹，大约12岁时，我第一次得到了一个Playstation 2，差不多在同一时间，家里也有了一台电脑，虽然它很慢。重点是，我并不是完全没有现代生活的元素。
Life had it’s ups and downs.
生活有起有落。
Anyway, while my math and science skills were middling at best, my Literature and History scores on my exams were worthy enough to let me go to college in order to be a teacher; it was extremely difficult, especially the history exams.
总之，虽然我的数学和科学成绩最多算中等，但我的文学和历史考试成绩足够让我上大学成为一名教师；这过程非常艰难，尤其是历史考试。
After I graduated, technology had already exploded to a point that everyone was enveloped in some sort of screen, every day, every minute, of every hour. I’m not bitter about it, I’m really not- The International courts of human rights at the Hague declared WIFI to be a human right along with air, water, shelter, and food. It’s difficult to imagine going back to an analog era again. I am grateful that I still retain the ability to go offline for multiple hours without a second thought and read if I wish it.
我毕业时，科技已经发展到每个人每天每时每刻都沉浸在某种屏幕中。我并不对此感到怨恨，真的没有——海牙国际人权法庭已经将WiFi与空气、水、住所和食物一起列为人权之一。很难想象再回到模拟时代。我感激自己仍然能够轻松离线几个小时，并在愿意的时候读书，而不用多想。
Digressing, the economy in America worsened and my situation became increasingly difficult by the day. I decided to emigrate to Korea to lead a normal life teaching;
话说回来，美国的经济状况恶化，而我的处境也日益艰难。我决定移民到韩国，过上正常的生活并从事教学工作。
I married, settled down, and to this day continue to try to make the best of things.
我结了婚，安定下来，直到今天我仍在努力让生活变得更好。
To that end, let us grow and learn together in the best way possible ^ ^
